Parents/Guardians,
The National Weather Service is predicting a winter storm this week. Our administration is monitoring the forecast closely. The decision to cancel school during inclement weather is not taken lightly. Many factors go into making a snow day decision. Student and faculty safety is the primary concern in making the call for cancellation. The decision involves considering multiple issues, but it all comes down to a subjective informed judgment call in the final analysis. When a decision is made, communication about cancellation is made by calling, emailing, and texting parents. This information is also shared on our website, social media, KY3, and KSN16.
AMI Days
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) allows us to use five Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) Days. We used three AMI days this month due to the Wellness AMI break. After we use the two remaining AMI days, we will be required to make up future snow days/wellness days.
PK-6 received AMI packets earlier in the school year. If your student does not have a packet, please contact your child's teacher through REMIND or call the school for a new Virtual Instruction learning packet before noon tomorrow, Tuesday, February 1st.
Students in grades 7-12 should be checking their district email for assignments and information from their teacher. Upon return, all Virtual Instruction work must be turned in to the teacher to receive attendance credit.
If school is canceled or we opt for early dismissal, notifications will be sent out via the following methods:
- Calling system
- Text message
- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter post (will be posted as soon as the decision is made)
- All local media outlets are notified as soon as the decision is made
We highly encourage Monett families to ensure all contact information is always up to date in PowerSchool. If you need to change a phone number, log into your PowerSchool account to make the changes or call your child's school office. We apologize if you receive more than one notification; we strive to ensure all patrons receive the notice.
