The Monett School District has a new partnership this semester with Cox Health Monett and MU Extension. Our GO CAPS Medicine & Health Care strand is participating in the Stanford Youth Diabetes Coaching Program. Students in Mr. Garrison's class started three weeks ago. Kelsa Ferguson, a virtual instructor from Cox and MU Extension, instructs students through this program on Fridays for the next eight weeks. She is a new resident to Monett and is employed by MU Extension and CoxHealth/Monett.
We thank Dr. Darren Bass and Dr. Mark Costley, as they were both instrumental in getting this partnership set up with MU Extension's assistance. Kelsa Ferguson's focus is on diabetes education through this program. Her position is designed to focus on different chronic health care needs each year for the next several years.
