The Department for English Language Development is responsible for the following:

• Providing instructional leadership and resources to support linguistically and culturally diverse learners

• Generating professional development for educators regarding instructional best practices for acquisition of language and academic content

• Collaborating with inner-school departments, families, and the community to expand opportunities for multilingual students

English Language Development (ELD) instruction is explicitly designed to foster English learner knowledge and the use of English to increase student success in school.
