On Thursday, April 13, 2023, the Missouri State Board of Education and Commissioner of Education, Margie Vandeven, visited the Monett R-1 School District as part of their annual school tour. The purpose of this tour is to see each of the 518 school districts throughout the state and discuss how each district works to improve student education.
During their visit, the board members had the opportunity to learn about the District's Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and tour the Scott Regional Technology Center (SRTC). The CSIP plan serves as an essential tool for measuring the District's growth and maintaining focus and accountability. The Education, Governance, Leadership (EGL) Association led surveys, interviews, and discussions with teachers, students, and parents to collect and maintain unbiased data. By using the data to build the CSIP, the Monett R-1 School District has become more intentional and focused on goals.
SRTC students, Oscar Rivera, Christian Ricketts, Tanner Parrish, Claire Nation, Silas Drake, Emmah Mayberry, and Nathaniel Tackett, took charge of small groups. They guided the State Board of Education and the Commissioner of Education on a tour of the SRTC campus. During their visit, the State Board of Education and Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven, had the opportunity to interact with students and gain insights into each technical class.
Superintendent, Dr. Mark Drake expressed his gratitude for the visit, stating, "Their visit allowed us to showcase the great work happening here in our school district."
The Monett R-1 School District is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where all students can achieve their full potential. Monett R-1 is proud of its teachers, staff, and students and is committed to continually improving education in Monett.
