Dear Parents and/or Guardians:
The Monett R-1 school district has partnered with the Missouri Foundation for Health, Healthy Schools Healthy Communities initiative and PedNet since 2013 to implement the Safe Routes to School Program. The goal of this program is to encourage walking and bicycling to school in order to increase overall health, minimize traffic issues and congestion, as well as assist in reducing environmental repercussions, which occur when the majority of the school population is driven to school.
At Monett R-1 we are always looking for ways to have a positive impact on our students and our community outside the classroom. During the week of April 19th - April 22nd (Tuesday - Friday) we will celebrate our first SPRING Walk/Bike to School WEEK. Please join students, parents and community members as we walk and bike together! Our mission is to teach kids important pedestrian safety skills and create safer walking/biking environments for everyone in our community.
How can you participate in Walk & Bike To School Day?
